CEN/TC 439 'Private security services' is responsible for standardization in all civilian security services. In 2026, the technical committee will continue to develop a brand-new prEN 17483-4 ‘Private security services – Protection of critical infrastructure – Part 4: Energy sector security services’, the fourth part of the EN 17483 series on the protection of critical infrastructure. This document will include sector-specific requirements for the provision of private security services for energy sector security, excluding nuclear power plants. This standard will be the fourth part in a series of standards on the provision of private security services for critical infrastructure. It is important that the selection of a private security service provider always represents the best balance between quality and price. This document aims to set out the minimum requirements that providers should comply with for this balance to be struck.
Moreover, CEN/TC 439 will start working on the fifth part of the EN 17483 series, namely on EN 17483-5 ‘Private security services – Protection of critical infrastructure – Part 5: Health care sector security services’ that will define requirements for private security services in healthcare environments. This standard will be used in high-risk settings. Hospitals, clinics, patients and medical staff will be among its beneficiaries.
